ABSTRACT:
This 12 page research paper is based on the scenario that the paper is a proposal to a constitutional convention concerning the office of the president. Therefore, the writer addresses the task of redefining the executive branch for the proposed new constitution. The writer reviews both the history of the 1789 US Constitution as well as the events leading up to this convention, asserting that goal of this convention should be to retract the degradation that has occurred to the office of the Presidency, that is, the principles inherent in the expanded powers of the so-called "imperial presidency," and return this office to the restriction of powers outlined by the framers of the current US Constitution.
