ABSTRACT:
Descartes and Siddhartha/A Comparison : An 8 page comparison between Rene Descartes' seventeenth century masterpiece, Meditations on First Philosophy, and Hermann Hesse's novel, Siddhartha. Descartes' work attempts to reshape the way knowledge is processed and evaluated with a view of reality that is grounded in the physical. The other work is a tale of spiritual exploration that explores the beliefs of Buddhism. Yet, there are similarities as well as differences between the two books because the spiritual realm and the physical realm can never be completely separated. No additional sources cited.
