Thanks in great part to the direction many developed countries have taken toward eradicating such cruel and unmitigated gender inequity, many global communities are taking steps to quell the indignity. Others, however, remain steeped in patriarchal tradition where a woman is destined to endure whatever shame and torture is deemed appropriate. Bibliography lists 11 sources.
