ABSTRACT:
An 8 page paper comparing Western liberalism to the Islamic philosophies of Sayyid Qutb and Yusuf al-Qaradawi. These two clerics have had immense influence in the formation of the political ideologies of Islam. Sayyid Qutb is said to have exerted great influence over Osama bin Laden. The purpose here is to compare and contrast the bases of this type of political ideology with that of Western liberalism, and the paper uses the philosophies of Rawls, Kant and Mill to accomplish that end.
